How Do You Smooth Out Dicor Lap Sealant?
Per the instructions on how to apply Dicor, a painter’s tape around the area is beneficial to avoid it going where you don’t want it to go.
With the painter’s tape in place, apply the lap sealant, and then we’d suggest using a spoon to smooth it out where self-leveling is insufficient.
While it’s a little unconventional, a spoon is small enough to get into the tighter spots. Also, everyone is familiar with how to hold a spoon steady too! This helps.
Smooth out the lap sealant slowly. Be careful to obtain the best results here. This requires getting a knack for it, so you’ll improve as you go.

Can You Put Dicor on Top of Dicor? Can You Put Lap Sealant Over the Old Sealant?
Yes, it’s entirely possible to put Dicor on top of Dicor. Don’t be put off from adding new Dicor sealant over the top of the existing product previously applied.
Follow the same instructions above to do so.
Also, just because the Dicor sealant has been previously used doesn’t negate the need to clean its surface completely before applying a new layer. Otherwise, it will have trouble creating a proper cure.
Can Dicor Be Painted?
No, it cannot.

1. Putty Knife
A putty knife can act as a scraper to remove much of what is present. It won’t get it all and or provide the neatest job ever, but it’ll get most of it off.
2. Heat Gun
A heat gun can warm up the sealant removing the curing effect.
Once the lap sealant is no longer hardened, it’s easier to use the putty knife to remove it completely.
The issue with applying heat is that you’re usually doing something on the roof. It if has a rubber or TPO membrane covering it, then it’s easy to accidentally burn through the membrane at the same time. Therefore, some people may prefer the third approach…
3. Mineral Spirits
Denatured mineral spirits handle the remaining bits of lap sealant after trying other approaches.
The spirits usually have an odor to them. Use a clean rag or a brush to cover the old lap sealant with mineral spirits.
How to Remove Dicor Lap Sealant from Fiberglass?
Try using a scraper or a putty knife first to remove the easiest parts of the sealant from the fiberglass. This is the best way to begin removing any lap sealant for fiberglass roof owners. Then see what you’re left with.
A solvent like mineral spirits (denatured) is successful on fiberglass surfaces. Alternatively, acetone is another option to try if there are still sealant remnants remaining.
Removing lap sealant from fiberglass is a time-consuming process, but it can be done.
